The University of Michigan Credit Union (UMCU) and C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, in collaboration with one another, developed the Foozel game application and coloring book to engage Mott’s patients and families during their hospital stay. The projects were inspired by Michelle Oka Doner’s art installation, “Ancient Arb I” bronze fossil floor showcased at the main entrance of the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. The fossil floor was part of the UMCU’s gift for the benefit of the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and the Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital.

Foozel begins in the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital lobby where the fossil floor transforms, taking its audience back in time to the prehistoric era of the dinosaurs. The goal is to collect the fossil floor pieces from each of the four games. Once all four pieces are collected the audience is returned to the lobby in present time.
